Reconstruction of Church Building

Factoring in the paucity of space inside the church and the dilapidated and run down state of the chapel roof, the general body meeting held on 17.12.85, resolved to construct a new church complex, in the available land utilising it to the maximum possible extent. A 40 member committee was constituted with the Vicar Rev. Fr. Samuel Mathew as President, Trustee Mr. P. S. Idiculla as Convener and Mr. Mathew M. Chacko as Architect. The foundation stone was laid on the Pentecost Sunday, 26th May 1996, by the Diocese Metropolitan, H. G. Geevarghese Mar Deoscoros. By September, the construction of the first stage -the Parish Hall- started. In the interim period, spanning six months, the Holy Qurbana went on uninterrupted in a temporary shed erected on the western side.

By March 1997, the Passion Week Services were held in the newly built Parish Hall. Meanwhile, the second stage of the building progressed without any hitch. The reconstruction was completed at a total cost of 45 lakhs. The church was consecrated on the 12th and 13th of January 2001, by the then Catholicose Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews II, ably assisted by the Metropolitans, H. G. Mathews Mar Eppiphanios, H. G. Thomas Mar Athanasios, H. G. Jacob Mar Iranios and the clergy.

The church membership stands tall at 310 families now. The congregation comprises of eminent personalities working as/in IAS, IPS and Govt. officials, Engineers, Doctors, Scientists, Businessmen and Expatriates.
